The Department of Spinal Cord Injury is seeking a full-time Spinal Cord Injury physician. Itis preferred that the candidate for this position will have at leastone year of Spinal Cord Injury experience to provide primary care and rehabilitation care that emphasizes a comprehensive continuum of health care and rehabilitation for patients with Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders (SCI/D). The candidate may be trained in specialties such as: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Neurology, or Family Practie. A subspeciality certification in SCI/D is encouraged but not required. The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following: Participate in the admission, work-up, diagnosis, consultation, and rehabilitation of newly and previously injured spinal cord patients. Manage general medicineconditions with SCI/D patients. Collaborate and oversee mid-level providers in the management of SCI/D patients. Provide inpatient and/or outpatient services. The successful candidate will have qualifications sufficient for a faculty appointment at our academic affiliate, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Work schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm; Evening and weekend on-call duty per rotation. DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
