Excellent Orthopaedic Surgery-Spine Opportunity in Western North Carolina

Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, North Carolina is seeking a full time, BC/BE Orthopedic Surgeon with fellowship in spine surgery to join the medical community in an employed practice position serving a region of more than 100,000 residents in western North Carolina.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
• An employed five-surgeon orthopaedics practice has been serving the region for more than 30 years.
• A robust sports medicine program is also in place, led by an experienced physician and complemented with therapists and athletic trainers serving a multi-county region.
• The Swain County Hospital campus operates a pain clinic with two pain management physicians providing care to the community.
• All orthopaedic, sports medicine, pain management and spine services are supported by a regional physical, occupational and speech therapy program in addition to state-of-the-art imaging modalities.

HARRIS REGIONAL HOSPITAL
• Harris Regional Hospital an 86-bed hospital is located in Sylva and serves a population of over 100,000 residents.
• Harris Regional Hospital was recently named a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission for performance on the measure sets of heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The ranking places Harris Regional Hospital in the top one-third of Joint Commission-accredited organizations in the nation reporting accountability measure performance data for calendar year 2012.
• Patients visit Harris Regional Hospital and its critical-access partner hospital Swain County Hospital originating from a primary service area of Jackson, Swain and Graham counties and a secondary service area of Macon County, far western North Carolina and north Georgia.
WESTCARE HEALTH SYSTEM – DUKE LIFEPOINT
• WestCare Health System was formed through a partnership of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain County Hospital in 1997 and serves Jackson, Swain, Macon and Graham counties with primary and subspecialty care, outpatient facilities and urgent care.

• Sylva, population 2,500+, and county seat for Jackson County, is located in central Jackson County, in the Plott Balsam Mountains of Western North Carolina.

ABOUT JACKSON COUNTY
• Jackson County is 50 miles from Asheville, 111 miles from Knoxville, 50 miles from Gatlinburg, and only 150 miles from Atlanta. It's also convenient to Upstate South Carolina, and less than three hours from North Carolina's largest city, Charlotte.
