Nationally Ranked Cancer Program Seeks Quality & Patient Safety Medical Director

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) is seeking an experienced Quality & Patient Safety Medical Director at the associate or full professor level for the oversight and supervision of quality and patient safety across The James Cancer Hospital, and to work in collaboration with nursing leadership, hospital administrative leadership, and quality program leadership to provide operational management, financial management, and leadership functions within the James Cancer Hospital Quality Program.

Overall responsibilities for this position include:
• Quality of care, resource utilization, protocol and practice guideline development and review
• Ensure the education and training of attending physicians, physician extenders, residents and fellows commensurate with their activity in the quality program
• Assure the program meets the accreditation and regulatory standards of the Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, and any other governmental accrediting or regulatory bodies as may be appropriate for this subspecialty area
• Collaborate with nursing and administrative leaders to develop, implement and/or revise procedures and expectations for customer service, patient/family communication and amenities within The James
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Represent the James in a leadership capacity at appropriate OSU Wexner Medical Center committees and activities
• Represent The James and The OSU Wexner Medical Center at appropriate National Forums to ensure latest practices are in place
• Represent The James and The OSU Wexner Medical Center at appropriate National Meetings to further the interests and programs of the Health System and its patients

Candidates must be Board Certified in a cancer related specialty, have expertise in oncology-directed care, experience working with quality and patient safety databases, experience working within a university/academic medical center setting, demonstrated qualities of a Physician Executive-Administrator, dedicated training in process improvement and previous experience in quality and patient safety leadership, working knowledge of CMS guidelines and processes as they pertain to reporting and reimbursements. Masters of Business Administration or Healthcare Administration/Operational Excellence preferred. Be able to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.
