Job Description

Last Update: 12/17/14
The Texas Stroke Institute is a collaborative initiative that includes eleven North Texas HCA hospitals. Our goal is to develop an effective and resource-efficient plan to reduce the morbidity, mortality and economic burden of stroke in the region. Incorporating medical education and participating in research will establish us as a National Center of Excellence in Stroke.

The Texas Stroke Institute offers a two-year Fellowship in Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (aka Interventional Neurology). There will be two Fellowship positions (non-ACGME) every year effective July 2010. Neuro-Interventional Fellows will be exposed to:

•Cerebral & Spinal Angiography
•IV & IA Stroke Thrombolysis
•Mechanical Thrombectomy
•Carotid & Intracranial Stenting
•Aneurysm & AVM Embolization
•Brain/Spine Tumor Embolization
•Other procedures of head/neck/spine

Fellows will have an opportunity to use Tele-Stroke for clinical evaluation of stroke and Neuro-Interventional patients in the ER. Presenting research abstracts at national conferences, as well as, submitting research papers to peer-reviewed journals is strongly encouraged. Fellows will be exposed to weekly and monthly educational conferences that will include didactic lectures, clinical case conferences, Neuro-Radiology conferences, and grand rounds.

The Texas Stroke Institute is committed to providing cutting-edge high-quality primary and comprehensive stroke care in this region. This will aid in improving the overall treatment rates, as well as, outcomes for patients with brain-attacks in this Stroke belt. Appropriate fellows to be considered will have successfully completed a Neurological Critical Care or Vascular fellowship.

Highly competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits included.
