An excellent clinical/teaching opportunity exists in western upstate New York for a neurologist with fellowship training or experience in cerebrovascular disease/stroke. An academic clinical appointment will be based on experience. Three of the five neurologists are highly involved in stroke. The hospital has an 11-bed Stroke Unit and cares for approximately 350 stroke patients per year. There is a nurse practitioner on the Stroke Unit. Two of the neurologists have certification from the American Society of Neuroimaging in ultrasound and the Neurology Unit has 2 TCD and 2 carotid duplex machines. Neurology group has been involved in stroke trials for the past 20 years, NIH and pharmaceutical sponsored, involving acute and secondary stroke prevention. You would be part of a 40-member multispecialty faculty practice that has long been a successful hybrid of academics and private practice. Hospital has a three-year internal medicine residency and a one-year preliminary medicine internship. Looking for someone who has a strong interest in teaching as well as being a skilled physician and excellent role model for residents and medical students. Interest and skill in clinical research is also welcome.
