Job Description

Last Update: 6/19/20
The Division of Neurology at the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is recruiting for additional neurologists to join its current group of 27 neurologists and 14 advanced care providers. We have openings for general neurologists as well as neurological subspecialists including headache, epilepsy, stroke, and dementia, among others.

The Division of Neurology at LVHN has experienced significant growth and remarkable accomplishments during the last several years. The division developed a new section of neurocritical care in 2015 to support the care of patients in our 14-bed Neuroscience ICU and now employs four fellowship-trained neurocritical care physicians. In July 2016, we welcomed the first class of residents into our fully ACGME-accredited neurology residency program. We are now expanding our tele-stroke and tele-neurology programs within the LVHN network and beyond, highlighted by the inauguration of our new mobile stroke unit in 2017. LVHN has been a Joint Commission-Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center since 2012, with the distinction of having been the third Comprehensive Stroke Center to be certified in the nation, and the first in Pennsylvania. This year we welcomed our new Chief of Neurology, Dr. Steven L. Lewis, the Editor-in-Chief of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology, to lead the next phase of growth of Neurology at LVHN.

Our newly hired physicians will have access to LVHN network neurologists within all neurological subspecialty areas including headache, movement disorders, clinical neurophysiology, epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, neurocritical care, neuro-oncology, vascular neurologists and our stroke and our telestroke teleneurology programs. The LVHN main campus has 24-hour coverage for rapid response to potential stroke patients and other neurologic emergencies as well as fellowship trained neuro-interventional radiologists. The network owns 4 helicopters and a critical care transport team, in addition to the new mobile stroke unit, for efficient patient transfer.

LVHN is a tertiary care health network in eastern Pennsylvania. The main campus is located one hour north of Philadelphia and 90 minutes west of Manhattan. Within a fifty mile radius there are 8 LVHN hospital campuses and a growing cadre of outpatient centers and primary care practices. U.S. News & World Report has ranked LVHN among America’s Top Hospitals for 23 consecutive years and currently has two of our hospital campuses ranked in the top 10 hospitals in the state. Positions are available in Allentown, Hazleton and East Stroudsburg, PA. We offer great benefits and incentive programs.

LVHN offers providers the strength of a large network, an integrated medical staff and a platform to develop and grow your clinical and academic career.
