Pediatric Hospitalist needed in a very desirable area of northern California. Active, unrestricted CA license and Board Certification/Eligibility are required. Expected start date will be October 2015. Well-baby coverage and ED consults for 2 area hospitals, one with a level I nursery, the other with a level III NICU. Some of the responsibilities will include care for infants with transition needs such as hypoglycemia, transient oxygen requirement, IV antibiotics for asymptomatic infants, etc. Attendance at high-risk deliveries (1-2 per week) and stabilization of acutely ill infants for transfer to higher level of care are required. In the rare event that an infant delivers at under 32 weeks, a Neonatologist is available for back up to assist with stabilization. Occasional circumcisions will be required of the Pediatric Hospitalist. Some of the typical diagnoses of admitted Pediatric patients under the age of 16 will include hyperbilirubinemia, r/o sepsis, vomiting and dehydration, reactive airway disease, RSV, pneumonia. Infants requiring subspecialty care are generally referred to local Children's Hospital. Day shift is 7am-5pm. Night shift is 5pm-7am. Call is from home usually having 1-2 calls between 5pm and 7am. Full-time position would include units/shifts per month and can be bundled/scattered to fit the incoming physician's needs. Shifts will include 18 weekends per year and a share of major holidays. This will be an employed position with remuneration being based off of experience.
