Qualifications:
• Must have at least 1 year of experience.
• Must possess an active license in any state or territory in the United States.
• Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• BLS and ACLS Certifications are required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, understanding, and speaking the English language.
• Current DEA registration is required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Excellent writing, typing, and verbal skills are required.
Scope of Work:
• Perform duties as a Primary Care Intake Physician in an outpatient setting.
• It is the aim of the VA to have all new Veterans enrolling into VA health Care within 14 days of the date of enrollment.
• Responsible for delivery of primary care intake exams to new patients enrolling in the VA healthcare system.
• Manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the clinic setting at SAVAHCS Tucson VAMC and as needed at Community Based Outpatient Clinics within 25 miles of the Tucson VAMC.
• Primary duty of the physician is to provide coverage for outpatient physicians during leaves and/or absences from the facility.
• Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and review the care provided by mid-level practitioners.
• Providers will need to act as surrogates for the patients of their colleagues, when one or more of their colleagues are on leave.
• Timely documentation is necessary in all areas in accordance with departmental policy. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion. Prohibited abbreviations will not be used.
• Clinical reminders should be addressed as medically appropriate. Quality of care should be able to meet professional standards at all times.
