Austin is calling! Internal Medicine Physician Opportunity in Austin Texas!

You’ll join an organization of federally qualified healthcare centers with outpatient practice sites located throughout Austin providing outstanding patient care in pediatrics, internal medicine, dental, women\'s health and family medicine. In addition, the organization also has integrated behavioral health services, pharmacy and lab support for their patients. They are also actively involved with local academic medical programs, teaching residents and students. The multi-specialty medical staff includes over 60 physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners and physician assistant providers, furnishing over 250,000 visits per year to over 60,000 patients. Two new sites are under development, which will increase the practice\'s services to over 100,000 patients in the coming year. Under broad general direction from the Medical Director, you’ll provide professional medical services including the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries in specialty area of Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities include: 1. Performs physical assessment of patient using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion and orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition. 2. Diagnoses and treats diseases, disorders and injuries based on patients\' medical history and results of physical assessment and refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. 3. Prescribes medications and therapies for treatment and preventive care. 4. Instructs patients and their families regarding procedures performed, home care, and follow-up visits. 5. Directs professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients. 6. Responds to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventive health and treatments. 7. Compiles patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and records in electronic medical record. 8. Reports required information including deaths and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. 9. Plans, promotes, demonstrates, recommends and coordinates high standards of medical practice. 10. Other responsibilities as required. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the principles and practices of preventive medicine and knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to medicine and federally qualified community health centers.

Requirements: MD/DO, Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas and Board eligible (with the intent to become certified) or Board Certification in Internal Medicine plus current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registrations for the purpose of writing prescriptions and current Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare providers.
