Highlight: Work with an established group of 18 physicians at a modern, 250+ bed facility
This facility has a 25 bed ICU. Hospitalists need to be able to Intubate in emergency situations (ER can be back up for this). No other procedures are required and the hospital has a full range of subspecialist backup. The ICU is open and covered by Intensivists; Sound Hospitalists do co-manage our patient in the ICU. The Intensivists have an obligation to do a mandatory Critical Care exam within 24 hours of patients being admitted to the ICU.
There are 7 daytime teams, 2 night physicians and they are in the process of implementing a swing shift; some days they have it staffed, other days they do not. On days when the swing shift is not staffed, one physician will carry the admissions pager and evenly distribute admits among the Sound Hospitalists. Sound takes unassigned patients, some local PCP patients and the Orthopedic admissions.
The average daily encounter here is 16-18 patients per day.
This facility has the 2nd busiest ED in the state of OH with around 96,000 annual ER admissions.
Efficiency and being a team player is a must to thrive in this facility and team. In an average 24 hour period, Sound Physicians’ MCE team sees about 40-45 admissions to our program. The ER handles all codes but Sound Physicians’ Hospitalists are required to have an active ACLS to receive hospital privileges.
