Fort Leavenworth is the oldest active Army post west of the Mississippi River. It is home to both Munson Army Health Center and Disciplinary Barracks Health Clinic. Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth offer many historical attractions for all ages such as the Parker Carousel Museum, the Carroll Mansion, and self-guided walking/driving wayside tours.
We are seeking an Integrative Medicine Physician to work at Munson Army Medical Center. The contract Integrative Medicine Physician will provide health care support and quality health care services to a diverse beneficiary population. The healthcare provider will work in conjunction with other health care providers, professional, and non-contract personnel.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
The Contract HCP perform full range of medical services to diagnose, treat, and manage patients as required, and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF to include, but not limited to, the following:
• Provide a full range of complementary and alternative medicine services.
• Technically direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of, other health care professionals seeing patients within the scope of their clinical privileges or responsibilities.
• Provide educational instruction to residents, medical students, and student registered nurse anesthetists.
• Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
• Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
• Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
• Order diagnostic tests as applicable.
• Medical services provided shall include, but are not limited to, the following listed procedures: patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, planning, and follow up of pain patients.
• Complementary and Alternative Medicine procedure may include acupuncture, guided imagery, meditation, yoga, biofeedback, integrative therapy, aromatherapy, etc.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possess a MD or DO from an accredited college approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, or from a college accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, or permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
• Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Possess board certification in a specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
• Have completed 300 hour acupuncture training course and one year experience in acupuncture therapy.
• Have experience in other modalities of complementary and alternative medicine. Other modalities of therapy that may be used include biofeedback, guided imagery, hypnosis, meditation, aromatherapy, and yoga. Herbal therapy and homeotherapy are not currently supported within the military medical facilities and these techniques cannot be used unless permission is received from the Commanding Officer via staff privileging process.
This is a 1 year government contract.
