Hospitalist - Physician - (Hospital Medicine) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 02/01/2015Available Shifts: 12 Hour/Day
Two board-certified Internal Medicine physicians needed for sporadic coverage for multiple sites within this healthcare system. Physician should be available to work 7am-7pm; 7 on/off schedule. Average patient census is 16-18 with about 3 daily admits. Procedures and codes are not required but will round in ICU. 300-350 beds at each of the 4 sites. EMRs are utilized by this facility. Credentialing takes 2 weeks.
A hospitalist (locum tenens) is a physician that is generally Internal Medicine residency trained but can be from Family Medicine or other sub-specialty programs. They specialize in the care of patients who have been admitted into a hospital. These general medicine professionals perform a variety of roles in the hospital and, accordingly, must be familiar with the entirety of human physiology and a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions. Hospitalists complete residencies in internal medicine, much like primary care physicians. When patients arrive to the hospital, a hospitalist will take care of them, prescribing treatment as needed, before referring them to a specialist or discharging them from the facility.
