Hospitalist - Physician - (Hospital Medicine) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: Night Shift
Summary: This is a traditional rounding position where the provider will see up to 15 patients/day. The provider is not responsible for initial consults/admission, but when seen will become part of patient load/responsibility. This provider is not part of a code team. Patients are general medicine, to include COPD, CHF, Pneumonia, Kidney, Pancreatitis, Stroke/TIA, Chest Pain/MI Rule Out, Diabetes, Renal Conditions, Cellulitis, and Alcohol Withdrawal. Procedures may be necessary and if so lines and Paracentesis. Procedure experience is not a requirement for this position. Peri-Op Risk Stratification is used. EKG reads may be part of this assignment. This individual does not have NP support.
A hospitalist (locum tenens) is a physician that is generally Internal Medicine residency trained but can be from Family Medicine or other sub-specialty programs. They specialize in the care of patients who have been admitted into a hospital. These general medicine professionals perform a variety of roles in the hospital and, accordingly, must be familiar with the entirety of human physiology and a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions. Hospitalists complete residencies in internal medicine, much like primary care physicians. When patients arrive to the hospital, a hospitalist will take care of them, prescribing treatment as needed, before referring them to a specialist or discharging them from the facility.
Required Qualifications
Board Certified Internal Medicine or Family Practice with Hospitalist experience will be accepted with valid OH license and DEA.
