Acceptable Specialty:
IM or FM

Certifications requirements:
Board Certification is preferred
ACLS
License – should take approximately 4 weeks to obtain license.

Availability:
7 on 7 off starting July 1
Need physicians willing to work blocks

Credentialing:
1 week to obtain privileges. Emergency privileges can be issued in 24 hours by the CEO under specific circumstances.

Schedule:
7a-7p, 7p-7a

Patient census:
Admitting physician: less than 10, plus whatever admits come in (usually 4-5 max)
Rounding physician: avg 12-18
Average 6-8 admits per 24 hour period, 2-3 admits per night shift

Patient mix:
50% Medicare
22% Medicaid
28% Private/Self Pay/Other

Procedures:
Vent management required
Intubations preferred but not required

Duties:
Standard hospitalist work. ED responds to codes but Hospitalists are a part of the code team

ICU setting:
Yes, hospitalists round and admit to the ICU. The ICU is 11 beds

Specialists on staff:
Gen Surg, Neurology (when on call, or will do consult the next day), urology, cardiology, ortho. Will soon have 24/7 telepsych and teleneurology . Respiratory Therapy, Lab, Xray staffed 24hrs, MRIs usually wait until the next day if needed overnight.

Current situation:
Current program is staffed predominately with locum providers. Looking to transition to ECHO locum providers prior to Sound “go-live” to allow for a smooth transition.

# of physicians in clinic/program:
Two day physicians, one night physician

Charting:
Meditech EMR
CPOE will be implemented July 1

Community information:
Located in SE Iowa, 1.5 hours from Des Moines, 2.5 hours from Quad Cities, 3.5 hours from Kansas City, MO and Omaha, NE
