Hospitalist - Pediatrics - Physician - (Hospitalist - Peds) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 Hour/Day
Health system in New Jersey is currently seeking Pediatric Hospitalist needed for coverage beginning immediately and ongoing for several months while the facility recruits a permanent. The Pediatric attending is in charge of codes on the inpatient unit. In the ED the decision as to who is in charge is agreed to by the Peds attending and the ED attending, but mostly the Peds attending is in charge. Trauma calls require immediate response. Intubations and the running of a Trauma code is a team effort with anesthesiology and the trauma attending. The average daily census is 10-12 and on average there are 3-5 admissions. There are 21 beds on the Pediatric unit.
A pediatric hospitalist(locum tenens) is a physician who works with children in inpatient or hospital settings. They offer care to children in multiple departments, including: labor and delivery, intensive care, the pediatric ward, and newborn nursery. A pediatric hospitalist work with regular pediatricians and other physicians involved in a child's care, to ensure the most efficient and effective treatment plan available. A pediatric hospitalist provides treatment in the areas of illness, injury, surgery, and newborn care.
Required Qualifications
Procedures required include lumbar punctures, abscess drainage (I&D), wound suturing, IV insertions, arterial blood sampling, intubations (all ages), gastric tube reinsertions, cardioversion.
