Hospitalist - Physician - (Hospital Medicine) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 Hour/Day
Central North Carolina facility has multiple opportunities for Hospitalists who can provide 7 on/7 off, 12-hour shift coverage starting immediately through the end of 2013. The patient census is about 18 per day and all adult. HP will be responsible for codes. This area is centrally located between the mountains and the ocean and is full of enough activities to keep everyone busy. The community has museums, botanical gardens, concerts, golf courses, etc.
A hospitalist (locum tenens) is a physician that is generally Internal Medicine residency trained but can be from Family Medicine or other sub-specialty programs. They specialize in the care of patients who have been admitted into a hospital. These general medicine professionals perform a variety of roles in the hospital and, accordingly, must be familiar with the entirety of human physiology and a wide range of illnesses and medical conditions. Hospitalists complete residencies in internal medicine, much like primary care physicians. When patients arrive to the hospital, a hospitalist will take care of them, prescribing treatment as needed, before referring them to a specialist or discharging them from the facility.
