Large 500 bed tertiary hospital with cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, stroke center, etc. Hospital medicine team is comprised of 38 Hospitalists covering 4 locations. There are 15 Hospitalists of the 38 in total that are located at the downtown campus. They are looking to add on to the current staff to bring it up to 22 Hospitalists. Adding an additional 7 new Hospitalists. This is a 6 year old program. The program is very selective and seeking motivated physicians to complement staff. Physicians generally work Mon-Fri - 8 hours per day. There is a rotating schedule of 3 shifts. The rotation consists of working one week (5 days) of days (7 am to 4 pm), then rotating to a swing shift (4 pm to 11 pm), then ,rotating to the evening shift of 11 pm to 7 am. On the evening shift, they tag on Sat & Sundays from 11pm to 11 am (12 hour shifts). The shifts are equally rotated amongst all physicians. The group meets every morning to review patients. If you are off, you don’t meet in the am.
There are no procedures required. No coding of patients, This group is growing dramtically and needs good physicians.
The average Hospitalist is making around $250,000. It could be over $300,000 or lower than $250,000 based upon how you work. If you do not want to do nites or weekends; you can give them away to other Hospitalists who want to make the income. This is an employed opportunity through Baptist Primary Care which employs over 160 physicians. Base salary plus RVU bonus. Full benefits covered including a prorated Tail Insurance policy. There is a $20,000 annual bonus.
The other schedule option is working 12 hour shifts of 7 on 7 off with rotating days and nights.
Average census is from 17 to 22 patient encounters per shift.
