Below are details about the ICH Hospitalist program in Pontiac, Illinois at OSF St. James
COMMUNITY
Pontiac is a city in Livingston County which is approximately two hours south of Chicago and thirty minutes from Bloomington, IL. Pontiac, IL is adjacent to beautiful farm land. The city of Pontiac was the town setting of a 1984 movie – Grandview USA – starring Jamie Lee Curtis, C. Thomas Howell and Patrick Swayze.
FACILITY
OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center is a 42 bed acute care facility, fully accredited by The Joint Commission. Named a Top U.S. Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, OSF Saint James is focused on safe, quality health care, exceptional patient experiences, and services that improve and support healthy communities.
IN Compass Health PROGRAM STRUCTURE
•2 Hospitalists/ 2 Midlevel Model
•Shifts are 12 hours – 7a-7p – with block scheduling (either 5 on / 5 off or 7 on / 7 off)
•Hospitalist will be On Call from 7p-7a via pager. ◦Midlevel provider will work 9a-5p Monday – Friday. As well, there will be a Midlevel provider for nights working 7p-7a / Sunday-Thursday
◦Part time Hospitalist could also work weekend only Hospitalist – Saturday (24 hrs) / Sunday (24 hrs) ◾The weekend census is significantly lower.
•Hospitalist responsibilities: Rounding, Admission and Night Call ◦Average census: 15-18 (peaking to approximately 21)
◦Average admissions: 3-6 admissions per 24 hr period
◦Average LOS: 2.6 days (most admits and d/c occur before 5:30p)
◦Hospitalists are required to respond to all codes and rapid response calls.
•Procedural requirements: vent management (strong), ICU management, E-ICU (nights and weekends)
** E-ICU – 5 Beds, tele monitoring from Peoria nights and weekends – low volume of acute cases
•Subspecialty back-up: ED Physician in house 24 / 7 – Run codes. ◦Anesthesia – Intubation
◦Cardiology – consults Monday-Friday (8a-5p)
◦General Surgery / Ortho – in house 24/7
◦GI – 2 days / weeks
◦Neuro (Tele)
◦Urology (Wednesdays)
◦No Pulmonology, ID or Dialysis
•EMR system – EPIC
HOSPITAL PRIVILEGES
•IM or FP ◦FP must have Hospitalist experience
•CLEAN FILES ONLY – for temporary privileges ◦Email and/or fax number for affiliations and references will increase the processing time.
•Board Certification or Board Eligible (with proof of exam registration)
•Need Flu vaccine and TB documentation
•Case logs from the most recent Hospital affiliation
•ACLS
