We are currently seeking full-time Family Practice Physicians - Board Certified at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, NC. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to the soldiers and their families while enjoying a quality of life work schedule.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Ensure that drugs are stored properly and that adequate records are maintained, to include records of controlled substances classified as such by the Controlled Substance Act (Title II of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970), and/or those designated by the MEDCEN commander as locally controlled drugs.
• Store, secure, and dispense or dispose drugs in accordance with JC standards and state requirements.
• The contract Family Practitioner shall meet or exceed reasonable standards of professional practice for the health care concerned as determined by the authority that governs military medical professionals in the same disciplines.
• The contractor shall be responsible for the following duties:
1. Diagnosis and Treatment. Contract physicians performing services under this contract shall have sufficient experience to be able to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries, in the outpatient setting, in the full spectrum of ages, to include, but not limited to, the following:Skin Pulmonary System; Head; Gastrointestinal System; Eyes Musculoskeletal System;Ears; Genitourinary System; Nose; Reproductive System;Throat; Lymphatic System;Neck; Central Nervous System; Cardiovascular System; Endocrine System; Routine antenatal obstetrical care
2. Procedures. Contract physicians shall have sufficient experience to be able to perform medical procedures to include, but not limited to, the following: Incision and Drainage; Secure and maintain an adequate airway; Nail Trephination; Local anesthesia; Bandaging of sprains, minor burns, and minor lacerations; Draw arterial blood gases for evaluation and interpret results; Suture simple lacerations; Remove sutures; Lumbar puncture; Colposcopy; Removal of foreign bodies as appropriate; Stabilize and evaluate cervical spine injuries as appropriate; Perform venous punctures for lab studies and interpret results; Splint and stabilize traumatic injuries to extremities; Administer intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as appropriate; Secure and maintain adequate intravenous access by peripheral routes; NG/OG tubes; Bladder catheterization; Cryotherapy of benign skin lesions; Nebulizer treatment; Cultures (throat, wound); Clearing of ears by flush technique; Draw arterial blood gases and interpret results; Excisional biopsy of minor skin lesions; Vasectomy; Flexible sigmoidoscopy
3. Other tasks. Contract physicians shall have sufficient experience to be able to perform tasks to include, but not limited to, the following: Medical examination, evaluation and patient management; Prepare legible, appropriate narrative summaries and patient profile changes; Take appropriate actions to include referrals where medically indicated; Have sufficient experience to diagnose and treat maltreatment and have experience in providing legal support through the judicial system; Act as Preceptor: Review electronic consults, use standard of care treatment algorithms; write initial orders determine retention of selected patients for clinic follow-up, write refill prescriptions; answer telephonic inquiries from clinicians requesting advice and consult. Properly consults with specialists and other consultants. Provide Preceptor services to mid-level providers and paraprofessional staff. Provide medical advice over the telephone. Complete all required paperwork. Perform administrative functions to include performing military physical examinations and Medical Evaluation Boards. Obtain an adequate history, physical, assessment and plan in a timely and appropriate manner on each patient and develop treatment plan. Utilize paraprofessional staff as appropriate. Respond to cardiopulmonary arrest as appropriate and arrange appropriate backup from WAMC Staff. Interpret electrocardiograms. Preliminarily interpret radiographs to include CAT scans
4. The contract Family Practice Physician shall meet or exceed reasonable standards of professional practice for the health care concerned as determined by the authority that governs military medical professionals in the same disciplines.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Normal hours for the Womack Primary Care Clinic is Monday - Friday from 7am until 4pm. Alternate schedule could be required based on other clinic needs. You will not exceed 80 hours in a two-week period.
Qualifications:
Education: Physicians must have completed an accredited medical degree program.

Certification and Licensure: Be licensed as a Family Practice Physician with a current valid, full and unrestricted license in one of the 50 states in the United States, and the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Must be Board Certified.

Continuing Education: Education beyond initial professional preparation that is relevant to the type of patient care delivered in the organization, that provides current knowledge relevant to the individual’s field of practice, and that is related to findings from quality assurance activities.

Experience: Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience in the practice of family medicine as a family practitioner for the two years prior to commencement in this position.
