EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency.
Current board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine.
A degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy is mandatory.
The contracted Physician shall possess an active, current, valid and unrestricted license with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions to practice medicine from the State of Washington.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Contractor shall provide Family Health services at the 92d Medical Group, Fairchild AFB, WA. The Contractor shall provide medical services for acute and preventative health services in the area of: Physician (Family Health). All procedures shall comply with MTF infection control and safety procedures, practices, and standards. Performance of duties shall meet applicable AAAHC standards and procedures compatible with the MTF's operating capacity and equipment.
The contract Physician shall furnish ambulatory health care in the areas of Family Health to beneficiaries ranging from infant to geriatric age. The Physician may, when services are required provide health care in the Women's Health Clinic. Health care provided shall cover the range of services provided in a civilian medical treatment facility. Services may include ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, performing minor surgical procedures, working with and supervising mid-level providers to include Physician's Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, independent Duty Medical Technicians, and referring patients for specialty services.
Care may include but not limited to:
Continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to entire families regardless of sex, age, or type of problem. The Physician shall maintain a program of comprehensive health to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
The Physician may become the Primary Care Manager for a panel of patients. As a Primary Care Manager, the Physician shall be the primary physician responsible for the management of the health and wellness of his/her assigned patients.
Contract personnel shall examine patients, formulate differential diagnostic plans, define and order required diagnostic testing.
The contract Physician interprets examination findings and test results, and implements treatment plans.
The Physician determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
Approves/disapproves subspecialty referrals.
Answers patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.
Provides preliminary and secondary preventive maintenance care.
The MTF Element Chief will make specific duty/patient care assignments.
The Family Health Physician attends and participates in patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other approp1iate professional activities to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of services as determined by the supervisor.

The following is an estimate of pediatric and adult acute care and chronic diseases that the Family Health Physician shall be capable of adequately diagnosing and treating.

The following are medical procedures the Family Health Physician at a minimum, shall have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform.
Basic Life Support
Advanced Life Support
Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Crycothyroidotomy
Secure and maintain an adequate ai1way to include endotracheal intubation
Cardio versi on of life threatening arrhythmias
Simple minor surgical procedures: pm1ch biopsies, excision of skin lesions
Simple abscess incision and drainage
Nail trephination
S1ing or swath injuries
Lumbar puncture
Suture simple laceration
Suture removal
Tube Thoracostomy Cryotherapy Nebulizer treatment Urine catheterization
Cultures (throat, wound) Suprapubic tap
Remove ocular, nasal and ear foreign bodies
Clearing of ears/flush technique
Reduce simple dislocations and fractures, when appropriate Bandaging of sprains, minor bums, and minor lacerations
Perform venous punctures for lab studies and interpret results
Draw arterial blood gases for evaluation and interpret results
Administer intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as appropriate
Stabilize and evaluate cervical spine injuries as appropriate
Splint and stabilize traumatic injuries to extremities
ON-CALL REQUIREMENTS
Telephone back-up support may be required for identified positions in support of emergency triage; a physician shall handle 911 calls when a Physician Assistant is performing on-call for the Family Health Center. Periods of on-call coverage typically run Monday through Sunday. On-call coverage is not anticipated during holiday weeks.
