Pioneer Health Services is a leader in providing excellent rural healthcare in Critical Access Hospitals. We seek a friendly, quality focused, family medicine physician to contribute excellent healthcare in a fast paced, family oriented rural community.

Job Description
To see patients in the hospital’s rural health clinic Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m., maintain an active inpatient practice, and possibly take hospital emergency room rotation.

General Job Responsibilities*
• Clinic Monday-Friday, 40 Hours/week
• Emergency Room evening and weekend coverage (optional)
• Call rotation
• Rounding of patients, as well as admittance, ordering, and discharging of patients
• Possibly some weekend each month
• Possibly some nights
• Direct clinic staff

Licensure/Certification
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Mississippi.
Board certification in specialty is preferred but not required.
Must have active Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Working procedures
1. Performs advanced patient assessments; obtains complete health and psychosocial history and records findings in a systematic format; performs complete physical assessment; orders, performs and interprets routine diagnostic tests.
2. Develops and implements plans for health promotion and health maintenance; provides periodic health assessments; provides health education and counseling; arranges referrals to specialist physicians or other members of the health team as needed and to community resources as appropriate.
3. Demonstrates awareness of current state, federal and local laws governing the delivery of care; uses appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state law; respects the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients; obtains appropriate authorization, consents for treatment; follows proper procedures when handling and disposing of biohazardous waste.
4. Provides open and timely communication with patients, families and their significant others; provides sufficient information to allow patients and their significant others to participate in their care; provides educational resources to the patient/family as appropriate.
5. Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development; assists in the orientation of new personnel to the office; obtains ongoing education consistent with level and area of practice; maintains current appropriate licensure/certification.
6. Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times; excellent attendance record; wears appropriate clothing for job functions; works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship within the office; represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community; maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
7. Have complete understanding of procedures and systems associated with the job, individual contacts as far as who to call on what matters, hospital policies and procedures, consistently apply knowledge for maximum results.
8. Willingness to participate in credentialing and quality improvement processes.
9. Maintain standards established by the hospital for annual number of clinic patient visits.
10. Attend monthly Medical Staff meetings.
11. Willingness to become a vital part of the community and participate in civic organizations.
