The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System has immediate openings for the emergency room. Formal training and experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice is preferred. This position is aligned under Ambulatory Care Service. The facility is affiliated with Texas A&M University. Consultants in all specialties and subspecialties support the emergency department. There is management of acute stroke and acute coronary management in collaboration with Texas A&M and Scott and White Hospital. Responsibilities include duties in the Emergency Department (ED) and participation in the ED Emergency Preparedness Response. The Emergency Department Physician is accountable to the Emergency Department Director and is responsible for providing effective delivery of outpatient care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. This position is located in Temple, Texas. The duties include but are not limited to the following: Perform assessments/examinations on initial encounters with unscheduled, emergency and newpatients. Coordinate patient treatment plan (involve specialists as appropriate). Order, interpret and include appropriate routine diagnostic tests and x-ray studies necessary to complete the Evaluation and treatment plan. Provide physician oversight to Emergency Department nurses and Emergency Department mid-level practitioners. Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Recommend patients for hospital admissions and coordinate care with accepting physician. Utilizes proficient data-entry (typing) skills. BLS requiredand ACLS required Procedural skills for procedures like Endotracheal intubation, Central line placement etc required.
