Position Responsibilities

Family Medicine Residency Faculty

The position is a full-time Faculty Physician position with medical care and teaching responsibilities in family medicine in the outpatient and inpatient settings.

Responsibilities include:
Precept residents at the Family Medicine Center four (4) half-day sessions/week.
Direct patient care at the Family Medicine Center four (4) half-day sessions/week.
Home visit supervision and school physicals as required one and one-half (1½) half-day sessions every other week which replaces precepting or direct patient care on a session by session basis.
Supervise clinical aspect of resident/faculty research one (1) half-day every other week.
Other Residency duties include meeting attendance, research, curriculum one (1) half-day session/week.
Act as a role model for residents by practicing the full scope of family medicine including prenatal care, exclusive of labor and delivery
• Serve as in-house attending physician for Family Medicine inpatient service including coverage for PGY3 during Family Medicine clinics and Women’s Health clinics.
• Participate in inpatient teaching service for Family Medicine on inpatient service on equal rotating basis not more than one (1) week per month with inpatient visits counting toward baseline production. Doctor will not have office hours or precepting sessions when on the Family Medicine Service.
• Sit as a member on the following Medical Center Committees:
a. Quality Assurance (QA) Meeting, monthly
b. Medical Records Committee
c. Library/Reference Committee
d. Critical Care Committee
Resident and Medical Student lectures at least six (6) annually.
Submission of a scholarly project (poster presentation, lecture, publication) annually which may be done in collaboration with other faculty, residents or individuals outside the Program.
Participate as an advisor to at least two (2) residents and perform as well as document monthly meetings.
Collaborate with a Nurse Practitioners/Physicians Assistant at the Family Medicine Center if requested.
Attend Family Medicine Department meetings.
Attend Medical Center Medical Staff meetings.
Attend SEMG Provider meetings.

Share with other faculty members the following general duties:
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Act as the Faculty Advisor to a group of residents and meet with them monthly and as needed, maintaining required documentation.
• Attend morning report in rotation with other faculty members one (1) morning per week.
• Participate with other faculty in resident and medical student study session at least once every two (2) months.
• Provide coverage for inpatient Family Medicine service on average no more than one (1) night per week and one (1) weekend per month.
Participate in curriculum review and revisions as needed and for assigned rotations.
