Endocrinologist - Physician - (Endocrinology) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 10/06/2014Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, ME seeks an endocrinologist to fill in on a locum tenens basis while regular staff recruitment efforts are in progess. The assignment would begin immediately upon the completion of credentialing and last on an ongoing basis, until a permanent hire can be identified. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no on call responsibilities.

Focusing on the treatment of diseases of the endocrine system, endocrinologists (locum tenens) treat conditions such as diabetes, metabolic disorders and hyperthyroidism, among other maladies. An endocrinologist also looks at conditions like obesity, infertility and stunted growth, performing diagnostic tests and prescribing medication or performing surgical procedures in an effort to reverse them.

Required Qualifications
The physician shall have an active BLS and DEA prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience doing thyroid biopsies and working with the veteran population are both considered a plus.
