Work Schedule: Dayshift; Monday - Friday The VA Medical Center located in Huntington, WV is seeking a Physician that is board certified or board eligible in Endocrinology. The Endocrinologist will report to the Chief of Medical Service. Primary duties include diagnosis, and treatment including consultation for patients presented with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the endocrine or metabolic systems in the outpatient setting and inpatient consultations. In addition, the incumbent should be proficient at performing fine needle aspiration of the thyroid. The Physician will work closely with the Diabetes Education staff and provide support and guidance. The incumbent will provide consultative series on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics, and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned by the Chief of the Medical Service. The incumbent is expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. The incumbent is expected to adhere to stated policies and provide timely documentation of clinical notes (e.g. H&P, consult review, medication reconciliation, etc). In addition, the incumbent is expected to coordinate and communicate the treatment plan with hospitalists, primary care providers, nursing, social workers, clerical staff, pharmacy and other subspecialists and ancillary staff.
