No visa's. The ED has 50 hours of physician coverage daily + 10 hours of mid-level coverage, caring for 46,000 annual patient visits. We work a combination of 8, 9, 10 and 12-hour shifts, use the electronic T-system documentation, and evaluate approximately 75% of our patients within 30 minutes of their arrival. Full-time night physicians are already in place, so night shifts are minimal. There is flexible scheduling among all of the collegial staff. Physicians are employed by the hospital and offered $155/hr, incentive bonuses, plus 6 weeks paid time off and $4,000 annually for approved CME activities. Malpractice and license fees are also paid by the hospital. In addition, medical, dental and vision benefits are offered at a small shared cost, 403(b) and 457(b) plans are available, and a 457(f) plan will be started this year for hospital contributions. The Emergency Department has a dedicated digital radiography suite, Zonare ultrasound, and GlideScope. Nearly all medical and surgical specialties are available on call (no Cardiac Surgery or Neurosurgery. A LifeFlight helicopter is based on-site to facilitate emergent transfers to tertiary and trauma care. Press Ganey patient satisfaction in the ER is typically 95+ percentile.
