Emergency Medicine Physician
California Hospital Medical Center Los Angeles, California
Overview:
California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) is a 316 bed, Level II trauma center and one of the major emergency care providers in the area with the backup capabilities of an acute care medical center. As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the area, CHMC provides treatment to over 66,000 patients annually. CHMC first opened its doors in 1887 and currently has 27 beds in the main emergency department and 8 beds in ED South (Fast Track). The ED has 44 hours of physician coverage and 24 hours of Allied Health Provider (AHP) coverage daily.
Here are some facts about CHMC:
* Approximately 66,000 patient visits per year
* 8, 10, & 12 hour shifts
* On call services include: Peds, OB/GYN, Surgery, Ortho, ICU, Cardiology, and NICU
* Excellent ED Nurses, Techs, and ancillary staff
* Bedside ultrasound
* Cardiothoracic surgery program
* Adult Hospitalist program
Requirements:
* California Medical License
* Completion of Emergency Medicine Residency training
* Current DEA certificate
* ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications
* At least two years of Emergency Medicine experince
About the Community:
California Hospital Medical Center is located at the Southern end of downtown Los Angeles, just a few blocks from Staples Center. Los Angeles offers a multitude of cultural and entertainment options. Choose from the Hollywood Bowl, Greek Theater, Huntington Library or Getty Museum. Cheer on any of several local sports teams; LA Lakers, LA Clippers, LA Dodgers, LA Kings, USC Trojans or UCLA Bruins.
Compensation:
Physicians are independent contractors and are given base rates with the opportunity to earn productivity pay at specific sites. VEP provides independent contractors with pension plan administration, flexible schedules, and paid malpractice insurance with tail coverage. Physicians also enjoy the benefit of becoming a stockholder which allows them to be actively involved in the governance of the company.
