Career Description
Air Force Emergency Medicine Physicians treat everyone from Airmen and their families stateside to wounded Airmen on the front lines. Wherever you are, your sole mission is to help your patients, which means you don\'t have to worry about insurance approvals or costs. Additionally, in the Air Force, you\'ll be able to compete for fellowships in toxicology, emergency medical services and critical care as well as teach in a GME program.

Career Tasks
•Practice leading-edge combat medicine and have the opportunity to provide initial trauma care to deployed Airmen in theater hospitals
•Direct emergency services, disaster planning and provide training to nurses and medics in all aspects of emergency medical treatment.
•Possibly participate in special operations assignments and be the lead physician for critical care air transport teams

Becoming a Direct Commission Officer
To ease your transition into the Air Force, you\'ll enter a five-week training regimen designed to educate you on the ways of both the military and military healthcare. You\'ll participate in physical conditioning five days a week, leadership training and classroom studies.
