Position functions in an emergency room where you will be expected to provide coverage to treat, release, admit or transfer patients with acute medical, psychiatric or surgical needs, primarily during the regular hours and off-tours hours, including nights, weekends, and evening coverage. Additional responsibilities include providing care on the inpatient medical unit and ICU. Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Family Practiceis preferred. Routine procedures: intubation, vascular access (Arterial line/Central line), LP,thoracentesis/paracentesis, chest tube, and splints. The employee shall participate in activities of the VAMC that are designed to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (The Joint Commission) as they apply to the position. ACLS/BLSand out of OR airway certification preferred. Work Schedule: 8:00am 8:00 pm or 8:00 pm to 8:00 am on weekend/holidays.
