Under the general direction of the Chief, Emergency Medicine, the Physician will provide care for patients requiring emergency services. The Physician is responsible for participating in the day-to-day clinical and administrative activities of the Emergency Medicine section. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: emergent intake, patient assessment, patient history, physical examinations, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies, emergent resuscitation, andmanagement of difficult airways. The Physician interprets ECGs and selected radiographic tests; performs invasive procedures for which incumbent is credentialed; initiates consults as well as referrals after discharge from the Emergency Department, and prescribes medications/supplies in accordance with VA policy and VA formulary and State regulations. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (with Emergency Department experience), Board certified in Family Practice (withEmergency Department experience)is highly preferred. Additionally, it is highly preferred that the candidate be ultrasound credentialed in compliance with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. A highly preferred candidate mustpossess at least 4 years of experience in the specialty of Emergency, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice.The experience in Emergency, Internal Medicine of Family Practice includes skills such as, but not limited to, a wide range of medical duties specializing in all aspects of emergency care such as advanced examination, diagnosis, and treatment to ensure effectiveness of treatment covering a wide range of non-emergent and urgent conditions as well as life threatening emergencies in the Emergency Department. WorkSchedule: Full-Time, Part-Time, or Intermittent.
