We are currently accepting applications and referrals for the position of Chief, Department of Cardiology.

Job description for Chief of Cardiology

The Chief of Cardiology is responsible for full oversight of clinical, academic and operational activities of the Division. The responsibilities include:

Clinical:
• Oversee various activities in the Division of Cardiology
• Participate in clinical care as attending
• Implement strategies to improve efficiency and patient flow
• Ensure access for various non-invasive testing performed
• Ensure timely interpretation of non invasive cardiology procedures.
• Ensure participation in the various initiatives as directed by the Health and Hospitals Corporation
• Foster the development and implementation of practice guidelines
• Ensure timely patient referral for invasive cardiology tests- as per set guidelines/policy.

Performance Improvement:
• Oversee Performance Improvement activities in Cardiology
• Monitor the services provided to ensure appropriate utilization of resources
• Ensure a thorough Peer Review process
• Ensure timely review of incidents
• Report to the Department of Medicine Quality Improvement Committee on quarterly basis
• Ensure attendance by the physicians at Departmental meetings

Academic:
• Ensure full compliance with the Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.
• Ensure that the residents acquire knowledge and skills in evaluation and management of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
• Maintain high level of professional and academic excellence

Faculty Practice:
• Ensure full participation by the faculty in faculty practice
• Ensure appropriate documentation and bill in accordance with Phycare, hospital and 3rd party guidelines.

Qualification:

The candidate must be certified in ABIM Qualifying examination in Cardiology, and have a minimum of five years’ experience preferably in an academic setting.
