Job Description:
The Medical Sr. Director-Alirocumab is responsible for the setting the vision and proactively shaping the direction of the function. The Medical Sr. Director drives change needed at all levels - individual, team and functional - to support US & Global Medical Affairs vision and to demonstrate value to customers and stakeholders. To accomplish this, the Medical Sr. Director demonstrates strategic, interpretative, evaluative and constructive thinking to proactively address issues that are noticeably different from what has been encountered or done previously (i.e., solutions-oriented, customer-centric approach).

The Medical Sr. Director is accountable for educating and driving the performance of the affiliates medical team within the CV area to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Alirocumab Launch Unit. The Medical Sr. Director works across the Alirocumab Launch Unit leadership team to ensure the medical and scientific needs of practitioners and researchers are embedded in the strategies and plans of the US & Global Medical Affairs team.

Strategic and Medical Leadership:
Shape the vision for the function and drive changes needed to support this vision

Shape vision of medical strategy.
Develop and ensure buy-in for medical strategy to establish a leadership position and external eminence.

Ensure Alirocumab Medical Affairs function is viewed as a partner of choice by its external customers and stakeholders for collaborating on the development of new treatments and protocols for patients.
Proactively participate at a global and national level with medical, scientific, regulatory and payor groups to establish relationships with key decision-makers and to challenge and shape future policy and practices for the treatment of lipids and cardiovascular disease.
Identify additional programs that generate medical and health outcomes evidence relevant to customer and account needs.

Team Medical Leadership:
Manage and coordinate internal resources and develop relationships with stakeholders and external partners to deliver value.
Facilitate learning and best practice sharing and provide a forum for discussions and sharing of information across the Global and affiliates Teams.
Work to ensure tools, processes and capabilities are in place to capture and integrate customer insights into account, franchise and clinical development plans and strategies.

Customer Integration

Serve as the integration point for medical, scientific and customer need. Anticipate customer needs and drive changes to proactively meet these needs, including where/how the function provides value to customers
Display customer-centric thinking and behaviors by providing proactively developing solutions (not by reactively addressing problems or challenges as they occur)
Synthesize customer insights, ensure treatment standards, policy changes and the emerging trends are proactively identified and integrated into Alirocumab strategies and plans
Establish processes, resources and venues to ensure sharing of information and best practices across internal customer segments and teams
Demonstrate company values on a consistent basis
This position is responsible to drive the performance of Alirocumab within Medical Affairs.

This position indirectly manages a budget in the Alirocumab MA team.

Requirements :
Doctorate (MD) degree from an accredited college or university with an area of specialization: Cardiology, Lipidology; Must be Board Certified.
Greater than 5 years of Pharma/clinical development experience; will consider experience in academia (Cardio/Lipid)

Functional Expertise-Working knowledge of lipid and cardiovascular disease treatments, product labeling and Federal Regulations pertaining to pharmaceutical products, promotion, and industry sponsored scientific and educational activities. Strong knowledge of medical cardio/lipid literature; strong ability to evaluate and communicate scientific data
Demonstrated team leadership
- Prior strategic leadership experience with geographically dispersed teams in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

Advanced proficiency in stakeholder management, including interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.

Applied understanding of and ability to integrate health economics and outcomes research into new customer programs and initiatives
Ability to shape and implement customer-centric medical strategies.

Ability to lead in a highly matrixed/multicultural environment and influence internal partners to achieve desired business outcomes.

Strong cross-functional, collaboration and negotiating skills.
Advanced knowledge of the lipid and cardiovascular disease market and the stakeholders influencing medical decisions.

Thorough understanding of the FDA, EMA, OIG, HIPAA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, and to ensure compliance with these external as well as internal guidelines and standard operating procedures.
Ability to interface effectively with a variety of scientific forms for the collection, review, and communication of medical information

Demonstrated a record of Scientific/Medical publications
