Career Description
The pilots, aircrews and missile crews of the Air Force work under stresses and conditions nobody else in the world experiences. It\'s the job of those in the Aerospace Medicine/Flight Surgeon field to care for them. These unique Airmen require unique primary care, preventative medicine and occupational medicine. As a member of this special team, you\'ll not only contribute to the health of the Air Force, but also to its supremacy in the skies.

Career Tasks
•Conduct medical examinations and provide medical care for aircrews and missile crews
•Determine fitness for flying and special duties as well as evaluating living and working environments to detect and control health hazards
•Provide medical support to the line of the Air Force, including duty in all aspects of special operations
•Regularly participate in flying missions (of nearly all types of aircraft platforms) to observe and advise on aero-medical issues
•Develop and manage preventive medicine programs, including the education of flight personnel in healthy lifestyles
•Establish procedures for managing casualties in aviation accidents and other disasters
•Provide advice on aero-medical evacuation and serve on aviation mishap investigation boards
•Serve as the liaison between flying squadrons and medical services

To ease your transition into the Air Force, you\'ll enter a five-week training regimen designed to educate you on the ways of both the military and military healthcare. You\'ll participate in physical conditioning five days a week, leadership training and classroom studies.
