The Beckley Health care System is seeking a staff physician (in the area of Family Practice or Internal Medicine) for the position of Associate Chief of Staff, (ACOS), for the Primary Care Service Line. Board Certification is preferred. The Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for the Primary Care Service Line is a management position with responsibilities for all aspects of primary care delivery. The incumbent is responsible for the overall performance of the Primary Care Service Line. Incumbent is expected to carry a small panel size necessary to maintain clinical proficiency as determined by the Chief of Staff. He/She is a key member of the clinical leadership team and reports directly to the Chief of Staff. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that high quality patient care is delivered in a resource efficient manner. Responsibilities include the complete range of resource management including position management and budgeting. The successful candidate should possess excellent leadership skills and should be knowledgeable and proficient with VA Performance Measures and the principles of System Redesign including implementation and promotion of outpatient clinic access and hospital flow. Professional training/certification can be in internal medicine, family practice or emergency medicine. Incumbent promotes an effective mix, coordination and support of clinical care by evaluating current and potential patient needs, clinical workload and resources, and special programs/mandates. He/She promotes and evaluates standards of clinical competence and conduct for staff which are maintained through compliance with the credentialing and privileging processes, monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice, peer review, and other appropriate quality assurance activities. Work Schedule : Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM and after hour duties including nights, weekends, and holidays. On call duties are included for administrative functions, and are shared with the Chief of Staff.
