Surgical service coverage encompasses general surgery as well as surgical subspecialties including:
Thoracic, Vascular, Urology, Colo-rectal, Bariatrics, Plastic & Reconstructive surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Gynecological surgery, and the SICU.

Responsibilities include history and physical examinations, OR assisting, all-inclusive pre- and post-operative care of patients, and active participation on the trauma team. On-Call duties require coverage of the SICU. Surgical PAs also participate in the education and hands-on training of PA residents and PA students.

Monday thru Friday daytime hours with PAs responsible for 24-hour coverage including a rotating on-call schedule.

Required on-call program outline is as follows:
· On-call 4-5 times/month
· Paid for 14 hours at your base rate
· If on a weekday, hours are 4p - 8a; would be off the next day with pay (the day would not come out of PTO bank)
· Weekend call is 8a - 8a (24 hours) - if on-call on a Saturday, off with pay the following Friday; if on-call on a Sunday, off with pay the following Monday

Depending on how many on-calls and off-hours worked, employees earn approximately $30-40k per year in addition to base salary
