Opportunity:
As the incoming Surgical Physician Assistant, you'll join a well-established, growing surgery team. This is an expansion position working with two general surgeons. Quality of life, enjoying your work and being rewarded for your efforts will be found at this practice!
Duties include, but not limited to:
• Perform comprehensive history and physical exams
• Order, interpret and correlate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures
• Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate
• Exercise judgment with issues requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising physicians
• Assist the physicians in the global management of patient care in all peri-operative settings
• Assist in patient surgery
• Role is to assist licensed physicians in patient surgery
The surgical PA will handle routine problems and procedures, freeing the surgeon to concentrate on more complex patients. This includes alleviating canceled, delayed or bumped cases.
Primary responsibilities:
1. 1st assistant in surgery = perform first assist duties, including ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are present
2. Post-op = write orders in the recovery room, talk with family, visit patients, perform post-op procedures and more
3. Discharge planning = dictate discharge summaries, write prescriptions, explain discharge instructions, confirm follow-up appointments and more
Requirements/Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of medical procedures
- Experience as a surgical 1st assist
- Clinically competent
- Willing to work in rural community
- Patient-centric
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Graduate of an AMA approved two-year Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification in good standing
Compensation:
This opportunity offers a competitive base salary, range starting at $90,000-$130,000, plus bonus structure and full benefits. Plus you are going to love living and working in this beautiful area of the state!
