We are seeking a practitioner to be a surgical first assist to a very busy Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon. This individual will be responsible for perioperative care of patients and assisting in surgery. Averaging 175-200 hearts per year, 600 surgeries per year. This is a hospital Employed position with 260 bed non-profit medical center in Beautiful northern Arkansas. The working schedule is Mon-Fri with weekend call. New graduates are welcome to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• perform patient history and physicals
• handles daily patient rounds (including the CVICU), patient education and discharge summaries
• chest tube insertion/removal
• exhibits autonomy in the operating room when required
• performs First Assist duties on all adult aspects of cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgeries
• needs to be experienced and proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting, open vein harvesting, radial artery harvesting, femoral and vein cutdowns, insertions of intra-aortic balloon pumps and chest closures
This is a 268 bed not for profit hospital with over 100 physicians on staff, serving a population of approximately 185,000 in northern Arkansas and southern Missouri. They have a 17 bed ICU, and recently installed 3T MRI.
