Urgent: Neuro-Surgical PA/PA needed at UCSF
Advantage Locums is currently looking for a Physician Asst. to provide Locums coverage in the Neuro-Spine Department at UCSF in San Francisco, CA The employee is being called up for military deployment. The assignment will start off as 3 months, but with strong possibility of being extended up through a total of 9 months.
· Anticipated start date: 7/10/2014 for 3 months (up to 9 months total)
· Provide direct care to patients with multiple, often complicated neurosurgical problems.
· PA will provide care to patients of 1 or more attending physicians within the Dept. of Neurosurgical Surgery.
· PA will evaluate and follow pts. throughout the continuum of neurosurgical care; seeing patients in the Ambulatory Care Clinic and in the hospital. They will also provide post-operative evaluation and care through Telephone Standards.
· This position may provide care in the operating room setting in hospital and ambulatory care clinic.
· Typical hours: 8a-5p (M, Tu, Th, F) and 7a-4:30p (W).
· If candidate has surgical experience, shift will be 7a-3p, but only if they needed on surgery days.
· PA will most likely be in the clinic the whole time
· Ideal candidate will have practical experience in an outpatient setting, preferably in spine/pain management (2 years minimum) and Neurosurgical experience (2 years minimum)
· Current PA license to practice in CA
· Active BLS certification (American Heart Associate only)
· Active DEA Controlled Substances License
· Completion of the UCSF Medical Staff credentialing process, may take up to 60 days
Hourly rate is negiotable and will be based on experience. Travel and lodging will be provided. Mal practice will also be included.
