STG International is seeking qualified candidates for the Physician Assistant position to work full-time providing health care to detainees in custody in support of ICE Health Service Corps at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Medical Facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Functions independently as a PA for a select patient population under general supervision.
Prescribes appropriate therapies within the limits established by the appropriate governing body.
Serves as a PA practicing in an expanded role as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Provides healthcare maintenance, diagnostic and therapeutic services, education, and counseling.
Assesses patients’ physical status by performing or requesting screening and diagnostic tests.
Develops comprehensive treatment plans specific to the patient.
Plans and/or collaborates on patient care based on in-depth knowledge of the specific patient, anticipating physiological and/or psychological problems commonly encountered.
Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings, develops and implements a plan of care, and evaluates, modifies, and revises the plan at appropriate intervals in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
Reviews case files of assigned patients to assess treatment progress, adequacy of record keeping, and fulfillment of guidelines.
Determines advisability of all major changes of patient status.
Meets with multidisciplinary treatment team members to discuss proposed adjustments in medical treatment.
Provides comprehensive care planning for patients and to facilitate clinical efforts.
Conducts updates for patient care areas on progress, and events impacting clinical care and data collection.
Collaborates with primary nurses in the development of patient teaching plans that reflect assessment data and are based on written objectives.
Implements teaching methods to meet patient needs.
Evaluates the effectiveness of teaching methods based on learner response and modifies them accordingly.
Must be able to wear N-95 respirators if required, per CDC guidelines and IHSC policy (i.e., exposure to ILI and exposed detainees).
Other duties as assigned.

Required:

At least 6 months experience as a physician assistant.
Graduate of an approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency.
Current certification in the state where the facility is located.
Comprehensive knowledge of managing non-compliant patients, special needs populations, and patients with significant deficits in coping skills, thereby requiring continuing professional clinical support.
Flexibility and ability to adapt to sudden changes in schedules and work requirements.
Knowledge of a wide range of complex patient care concepts, principles, and practices to perform assessments of considerable diversity to include mental health, medical surgical, ambulatory and emergency care.
Bilingual communication capability - preferred.
Knowledge of staff development and basic adult learner teaching skills.
Knowledge of forensic concepts and principles – preferred.
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of computerized data base, sources, and reporting methodologies.
Knowledge of team building principles.


COMPETENCIES:

Maintains current CPR/BLS certification.
Maintains current ACLS certification (optional).
Minimum 2 years professional experience.
