The Pontiac Correctional Center is seeking a part-time Physician Assistant to work 8 hours per week.
Provides basic medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician. Utilizes professional medical skills to meet a variety of health care needs, with ambulatory care as primary focus. Interacts with a variety of health care professionals and security staff in a correctional environment.
-Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
-Assesses inmate patient in a variety of settings.
-Identifies inmate patient health problems and prescribes treatment under direction of a physician.
-Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by the physician.
-Provides education to inmate patient, health care and correctional staff.
-Documents all health care contacts.
-Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
-Follows security regulations for keys, sharps and controlled medications.
-Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
-Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
