This incumbent works in the Outpatient Section of Mental Health Services at WJBD VAMC Outpatient Clinic located in Orangeburg, South Carolina.The incumbent offers treatment in the form of assessment, clinical consultation and psychological assessment, to other members of the team. He/she diagnoses mental disorders, conducts physical and psycho-social assessments, provides mergent and follow up treatment of mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provides adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Among the modalitites provided are individual and family, psycho-pharmacology, and environmental interventions. They consult with medical center staff on a wide varitey of patient care issues. Duties include, but are not limited to: Providing diagnostic interviews, assessments and psychotherapy for adult patients; Multidisciplinary consultation; Provision of direct patient care, consultation services-on difficult or complex cases, and education of staff; Systematically evaluates patient care program; Exhibits leadership in initiating changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research and/or studies; Successfully intergrates the activities of the employee's assignment with other patient care programs at the facility and with similiar programs on a broader geographic basis; Consistently demonstrates expertise in diagnosing and treating seriously ill multi-symptomatic patients; Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule : Monday Friday, 8a to 4:30p, may require some work during non-administrative hours and weekends. Subject to change based on agency needs.
