Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Surgeon Contractor to join our medical team. This position requires the contractor to perform a broad range of outpatient and inpatient surgeries and manage patient needs as outlined by the Service Unit's position description and under the guidance of the Acting Chief of Surgery. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care, adhering to the standards established by recognized medical organizations and in compliance with our Service Unit's Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct both outpatient and inpatient surgeries, including major operations like gastrocolostomy, acting as the lead surgeon and coordinating with medical staff during procedures.
Provide professional general surgery physician services, offering appropriate and timely medical interventions.
Assume the role of staff surgeon and surgical consultant, diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries through surgical means.
Take responsibility for patient diagnosis, prevention therapy, maintenance, and rehabilitation, conducting thorough examinations and utilizing diagnostic tests as necessary.
Deliver total patient care encompassing prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services.
Engage in emergency care, manage definitive treatment in all medical categories for non-referral cases, and perform ward visits to monitor patient care quality.
Offer consultations on challenging cases and contribute to the professional development of medical practitioners through consultation and teaching, particularly in complex patient scenarios.
Attend department and medical staff meetings as required and participate in on-call services post-regular shifts and on weekends.
Qualifications
the American Board of General Surgery, and shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted
appropriate license in any state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a
Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract. If the contractor is asked to
perform outside the normal training parameters of his/her specialty, then the contractor shall
provide certification of hospital privileges in those additional scope of practice(s).
Working Hours
Overtime: May be required based on patient load, with potential for rotating shifts in the Inpatient Department.
Weeknight On-Call: 15.5 hours per night, from 3:30 pm to 7:00 am, Monday through Friday.
Weekend On-Call: 24 hours per day.
