**General Surgery Opening in Coudersport, PA** Buffalo, NY 110m; Pittsburgh, PA 166m Provide medical, surgical, and consultative care for patients requiring the service of a General Surgeon in the ED, admitted to the hospital, or at the request of another member of the staff * Joining a team of 1 general surgeon and 1 physician assistant * The current practice model requires 2.0 surgeons primarily because of call availability * When on call, must immediately respond and be at the hospital immediately within 30 minutes * 26 work weeks per contract year * Primary practice is located on the campus, allowing easy OR access. * Operating Room block time two days/week, emergency cases added as required, and other add-on cases as schedule permits. * Anesthesiologists are available 24/7 with a full team of CRNAs * Established practice * Typical scope of General Surgery practice for a community hospital. * Clinic EMR is EPIC, a component of Meditech that serves the hospital (to be replaced with 2-3 years). * Laparoscopic scopes, fully equipped, ultrasound-guided capabilities * CT Scanner on site * No robotics * No bariatrics * Other interests that may be considered/valuable areas of interest include surgical oncology/breast (womens health center here/ doing mammography); laparoscopic procedures (such as OBGYN is going). * The suite is well-appointed in the Medical Office Building on campus- great clerical and clinical support: seasoned, excellent employees. * Must have very good to excellent malpractice history with current coverage * Must not have been a sanctioned party **Common Surgeries being performed:** * Laparoscopic cholecystectomy * Hernia repair inguinal and epigastric * Breast biopsies * Breast lumpectomy * Excision of cysts or lesions * Appendectomy open or laparoscopic * Bowel resections * Diagnostic laparoscopies * Central venous access procedures * Excision of cysts, moles, etc
