Contract Type: 1099 – 13 weeks locums contract

Compensation: $240/hour

Job Description:

The Behavioral Health Psychiatrist provides a full range of counseling and behavioral health services within their scope of practice. They work with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use issues, contributing to their well-being and recovery. The clinician collaborates with other professionals and community partners to ensure comprehensive care for clients. Cases involve persistent mental illnesses with co-occurrences, including Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Depression. Initial patient visits require 1.5 hours, while repeat patient visits/medication management take 30 minutes. 5-10 patients per day.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric assessments and evaluations.
• Diagnose mental health conditions and develop treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness.
• Provide individual and group therapy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
• Offer crisis intervention and support.
• Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay informed about best practices and evidence-based treatments.

Qualifications

• Active DEA
• Board Certification (BC) preferred; Board Eligibility (BE) considered
• Bilingual Spanish highly preferred
• Active CA license with clean license history
• Inpatient or outpatient experience with adult patients.
