Requirements:
• Certification of completion of a psychiatric residency program
• Active California license
• BC/BE in Psychiatry
• BLS/ACLS certification
• DEA certification
• 5 - 10 years of experience
• Proficiency in the use of electronic health records for documentation and orders.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
• Experience working in correctional psychiatry or a similar setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities:
• Psychiatrists shall use their professional-clinical judgment when providing care and treatment for inmate patients.
• Psychiatrists must ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care by completing all medical records within 24 hours of service provision.
• Provide direct patient care, including work with individual inmate patients
providing evaluations, medications management, medications reconciliations (admission and discharge), chart checks.
• Provide psychiatric consultations with other staff regarding patient care, medical and diagnostic work performed
• Conduct or coordinate appropriate physical, behavioral, psychological, laboratory, and radiologic assessments of patients to determine treatment needs
• Authorize and complete required supporting documentation for involuntary detention, involuntary medication, and transfer to hospitals as required.
