  • Describes and evaluates surgical specimens and interprets microscopic sections taken according to the procedure manual.
  • Interprets cytopathologic changes in genital and extragenital specimens.
  • Provides clinical interpretations of laboratory tests in area of specialty.
  • Stays abreast of the developments in the area assigned and
  • introduces new tests when appropriate.
  • Reviews QA on a timely basis and consults with manager and techs to solve technical problems.
  • Reviews new methods and technology in area of interest.
  • Monitors implementation of new methods.
  • Serves as consultant to physicians served by the SBMF

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administrative

· Participates in interviews of prospective department managers.
· Checks progress of the technical department objectives.
· Participates in the formulation of the overall objectives of SBMF.
· Attends meetings of the hospitals to which assigned, meets regularly with hospital or department manager and performs quality assurance activities necessary.

Qualifications

· Must hold an MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine).
· Completion of a residency in pathology
· Must be board certified or eligible for certification in pathology by a recognized board.
· Must have state license.
