To our prospective teammates,

I am the System Medical Director for St. John Medical Center, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am proud of the hospital medicine practice we have built. I welcome interest from advanced practice providers (APPs) coming out of training or looking to make a career change. I want to share more about who we are and what we do — specifically about our people, practice, and purpose — as you consider your options:

People
  • Our cohesive team of 22 clinicians has collaborated for many years and is enthusiastic about welcoming a new colleague to this unique hospitalist setting.
  • Our diverse team includes seasoned mentors, mid-career colleagues, and new graduates.
  • Within the hospital, we work closely with our colleagues in other departments to ensure a smooth transition of care. Many of us are active in community health initiatives through the hospital, including connecting our patients and members of the community with fresh food and identifying other ways to mitigate social determinants of health.
  • Tulsa boasts a rich cultural tapestry with its vibrant arts scene, iconic Art Deco architecture, and the renowned Philbrook Museum of Art, complemented by the city’s historical significance in the oil industry and the lively atmosphere of the Gathering Place, one of the largest public parks in the United States.
  • We are looking for individuals who value collaboration and enjoy working with teammates who support one another – if you are a team player with this mindset, we would like to welcome you as a like-minded colleague.
Practice
  • The hospital provides comprehensive subspecialty support and caters to various high-acuity patients.
  • This is a distinctive opportunity to practice exclusively in the ICU with our hospitalist ICU team.
  • This position is part of a dyad alongside a physician.
  • Responsibilities involve participation in rapid response team and code blue responses, and acute care training/certification is a requirement.
  • Receive support from the pulmonology team for high-complexity cases and from the cardio ICU team for high-complexity cardio cases.
  • Our facility is a Level II Trauma Center with over 500 beds.
  • St. John Medical Center has garnered numerous accolades, including the Global Site Excellence in Diversity Award, and the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, and is listed among the Nation’s top-performing hospitals for the Treatment of Heart Attack Patients.
  • We offer competitive compensation along with quality and productivity incentives.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
  • Our retention rate is high, and we work collaboratively within our team to ensure coverage for time off.
Purpose
  • We put patients first. Always.
  • We value and support growth and development in our hospital medicine practice, allowing you to explore new opportunities locally and within the broader medical group.
  • We are a community-minded team and support involvement and contributions to community health and wellness in and out of the hospital.
