Indiana University Health has an exciting opportunity for a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to work in our inpatient OB Emergency Department (OBED) at the Riley Maternity Tower in Indianapolis, IN!

Position Details:

  • Part-Time (.6)
    • 12 or 24-hour shifts
    • Rotating days/weekends/holidays
    • No call
  • Work independently, 100% inpatient, with in-house OB Laborists & Resident teams available to assist and consult as needed
  • Fast paced, Level 4 academic perinatal center with dedicated 10-bed OB Emergency Department
  • Care for patients in all trimesters of pregnancy and up to 8 weeks postpartum; inclusive of low-risk pregnancy to high-risk complex patient population

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assessing and evaluating patients presenting to the OBED throughout all trimesters of pregnancy and the postpartum period.
  • Perform complete histories and physical assessments, order appropriate testing and diagnostics, make determinations about treatment, disposition, and follow-up care for patients.
  • Write H&Ps and admit patients requiring inpatient services.
  • Work independently, consulting with and referring to physician providers as indicated by the patient’s health status and established Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • The role also serves as educator for OBGYN residents, medical students and PA students and supports the Indiana School of Medicine’s mission of clinical care, education, and research.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree Required
  • Must be ACNP, FNP, WHNP or CNM Certified
  • Experience in labor and delivery, preferably in Level 3 or 4 perinatal center required
  • At least 2 years APP experience providing care to pregnant and postpartum patients preferred

Hospital Overview

IU Health and IU School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology physicians deliver at the Maternity Tower at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. Opened in 2021, the tower has the accommodations to support traditional birth plans, and the experience of exceptionally and nationally ranked pediatric and adult specialists to care for high-risk pregnancies and babies with critical needs. The facility is designed so that pregnant patients and newborns have access to highly skilled care under the same roof. The Maternity Tower houses maternal fetal medicine specialists, midwifery services, an obstetrical intensive care unit (one of a handful in the nation), an obstetrical emergency unit and a level IV NICU.
